Docs/Status Pages/Incidents And Maintenance

Incidents & Maintenance

Communicate service disruptions and planned maintenance to your users through the status page.

Incidents

Incidents represent service disruptions that affect one or more of your monitored services.

Creating an Incident

  1. Go to your project's Status Page
  2. Click Create Incident
  3. Set the title, description, severity, and optionally link a monitor

Incident Severity

Severity Description
MINOR Limited impact, most users unaffected
MAJOR Significant functionality impaired
CRITICAL Complete service outage

Incident Statuses

Incidents progress through a lifecycle:

Status Description
INVESTIGATING Initial state. The team is looking into the issue.
IDENTIFIED The root cause has been found.
MONITORING A fix has been applied and the team is monitoring.
RESOLVED The incident is fully resolved.

Incident Updates

Add updates to an incident as the situation evolves. Each update can change the incident status and includes a timestamped body text. Updates are shown chronologically on the public status page.

Auto-Created Incidents

When an uptime monitor transitions to DOWN, Unseenr can automatically create an incident on the linked status page. These are marked as autoCreated: true.

Maintenance Windows

Maintenance windows let you inform users about planned downtime. When a maintenance window is active, linked monitors are excluded from alerting and the status page shows the maintenance notice.

Maintenance windows are configured per project and can be linked to specific monitors.

Subscriber Notifications

When an incident is created or updated, all status page subscribers receive an email notification. This is handled by the worker's subscriber notifier system.
